Set your goals and make it happen! Go ahead and do that thing that you have always wanted to do. When you are able to accomplish your goals, you will feel better, happier, and have much more confidence!
It is the end of year CELEBRATION for us, the end of the school year has arrived. Our family is a homeschooled family, which is why we are done with school early. There was a time that I didn’t always believe that I could homeschool. It used to be something that I dreamed about doing, but didn’t believe that I could. But now, I think there is nothing better, and that I might actually be a little good at it. .
I have been homeschooling two years now, and I have had my own doubts, I know that I am not an expert, but I feel that this year I was able to get into the swing of things. I have a better understanding of what is expected of me as well as what to expect of my children. I even have a very small homeschool tribe, which I have grown to love. Just a few quirky moms with some awesome kids!
There are two things that I want to talk about. The first is how proud of my son I am. He is amazing and has worked so hard to get ahead in his work. The one on one attention has been marvelous in getting him to open up and explore new things. The second thing I want to talk about is how I set my goals and I made it happen. When I started, even though it was fun, it was so scary. I wasn’t sure of what I should do, what I had to do, but I took it one step at a time until I completed the first year.
Unlike when I started, I now feel more confidence in myself. I feel happy and capable. When I started I knew that I had the background to be able to teach him well, however, knowing and doing are two different things. I really doubted that I could do it. I was sure that I was going to screw up my kid. But with time and dedication, I learned that the opposite is true. I do know what I am doing, I am qualified, and my son has excelled at school. I gave myself a chance, and I discovered that I am more than capable, with dedication and hard work, I set out to conquer my fears and to accomplish my goals.
This is what I am trying to get at. It is hard, especially when you start. There are many difficulties and doubts to face, but when we set goals and we do the things that we want to do and we invest the time, as scary as they may seem, one day we will realize that we can do it, we will make it happen! We can accomplish our goals and our dreams.
It is that simple. We can do it and we are able to accomplish all of those things that we keep saying we can’t do.
My first year of homeschool I was sure that I was going to mess my kid up and couldn’t believe that my husband was encouraging this. I had to take a big breath, convince myself that I could do it and, and then just dive in. Well, I did, and my kid is not messed up, in fact he is excelling in his subjects and this year told me he loves being home schooled because he gets to do the things that he loves and that is fun.
How does this story help you to get motivated?
Because I want you to see the potential that you have. Maybe your afraid to start homeschooling, or afraid to go back to work, or afraid to start a blog, or maybe start a new class, go back to school. The list keeps going on and on. So many things that you can do if only you have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney said this and I have always believed it and tried to make it part of my way of life.
I want you to start thinking of that thing that you really want to do. That thing that has always been in the back of your mind that you say, someday I will be able to do that. Whatever is. Then I want you to come up with a plan. I say dive in, but also be realistic. Then put your plan into action. Next thing you know you will be on your way to accomplish what you have always wanted to do. I guarantee you, that if you stick with it, because it might not always be easy, then you will be happy and feel accomplished.
I can’t tell you that it will be an easy road. Sometimes the things that we want the most, tend to be the hardest, but that does not mean that you should be afraid.
Fear is our WORST ENEMY
It is terrible. We tell ourselves un-truths and then we believe them. We are capable of so many things in life, but we tend to have a higher ability to believe what we can not do than the things that we can do. This is sad, because just about everything in life is possible. As Audrey Hepburn said, “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!
I hope that you will remember this. I hope that you will take a moment and think about those things that are important to you. I hope that you will go after those dreams and I hope that you will make them come true. Make time for yourself. Always remember, that when you are happy, those around you will be happy too! Taking care of yourself gives you the energy to take care of others, especially those that you love.
Now go out there and do something wonderful for yourself!
