Ways to Improve your Mindset

Have you ever heard of the Highlight Reel? If you haven’t it may be keeping you from being able to improve your mindset.

Highlight Reel is exactly what someone wants you to see. It is the brightest and biggest points. Only what they are proud of.

The highlight reel is not reality.

It is the version of a life or thing that someone wants you to believe. Think about a movie. When a studio is releasing a movie, they give you the highlights, they give you the best parts to get your interested and curious about the movie and then you want to go and see it. After the movie is a success, then and only then will they show you the bloopers or the making of. After you’ve seen what they want, then they let you in on the truth of how much hard work it really took to get to the end.

Recent studies have shown that people who are constantly scrolling on Social Media will be more likely to dislike their own lives. They start to compare and focus only on this highlight reels that others post and start to question if what they have is good enough. Over time you will believe that your life is lacking

How can we make sure that we are not being affected by the Highlight Reel.

We need to learn to have self awareness

Self-awareness is how you see yourself.

Our thoughts, emotions, and stress can all impact our self awareness. It is how we feel about ourselves.

When we are self aware we can see if our actions are a reflection of our beliefs and our emotions. Being self aware is important to help you work toward having a positive sense of yourself.

For example if you are negative about yourself, you will treat yourself poorly and you will not be living in line with the belief that you are worth love and respect.

How do you see yourself? Are your actions following what you believe?

Believe in yourself: you are amazing

Learn to be aware of how your are thinking or feeling today?

  • Are you feeling confident about yourself?
  • Do you have happiness in your home life?
  • Can you stand firmly in what you believe and not feel judged by others opinions?
  • Would you say you are feeling confident about your life choices?

When you look around how do you feel?
Joy and happiness, and love or do you feel defeated, lonely, unhappy, unsettled, guilty, wishing for more.

Sometimes it is hard to see the things that are in front of us. You are unable to enjoy the things that are happening around you because you are to busy comparing yourself or wishing for a different life.

It isn’t that what you have is good or great, it is that you have falling in to a negative thinking way. You tend to focus on the negative, you tell yourself that you are not capable or more or that you shouldn’t be loved more. If you think about it, you realize it isn’t true, however, life can get so overwhelming at times that it is just easier to stay in a negative way of thinking.

Is it possible to change this?

The good news is you may not need to change your whole life you may just simply need to reset your thoughts. You just need to find the good in your daily life. Learn to have a positive inner monologue to help you think better about yourself.

You deserve the best that you can have in your life. And sometimes we have it, we simply are focusing negatively on our lives. Failing to see because we are so overwhelmed. Learning to use positive thinking will help you to increase your self worth, confidence, and self esteem.

You might be wondering, Why is it so hard though? How come we continuously fall into this negative way of thinking?

There are many reasons why we may feel:

  • Overwhelmed
  • Tired
  • Alone
  • Empty
  • Different
  • Misunderstood
  • Unloved

Being busy with a non stop schedule is hard.

When you start to feel negative and overwhelmed, try doing these.

  • Take a deep breath
  • Drink some water
  • Walk outside
  • Talk with a coach

If you feel unsupported and alone more than you thought you would, think about what is going on, especially if you are focused on the highlight reels from others. You know the social media trap, the, why am I not vacationing more, why won’t my husband bring me flowers or take me out, I wish I had a nicer house?

Truth: the grass is always greener, not many are. All of that stuff takes hard work with women who are doubting themselves as well.

It’s time to stop constantly thinking about all of the things that you could have done better.

In life there are both good and bad that happen. Most times we can’t control those curve balls that life will throw at us. Through it all, whatever comes your way, DON’T give up. Keep moving. Work on building your keeping a positive mindset and on building your self confidence. Prepare yourself for when things get hard and don’t give up. Keep that positive self talk going, read how here.

Stop being so hard on yourself and learn to love yourself, the way you are.

Learn to move forward with a positive attitude and you will be able to reach your goals. You will accomplish what you want, if you have the courage to pursue it, the courage to face the challenges, and the courage to persevere through it all.

So what can you do?

First of all let’s look at what you have. Sit down and think. Home, healthy kids, a good husband, a good job, family support? You may have all of those or you may only have one or two. Lets focus on the positive. What do you find joy in daily? I know that days can be hard and overwhelming but there is always something good. Something that makes you smile and helps you to want to get up in the morning. What is it?

Focus on that when things start to get hard. Focus on the reasons that you do what you do. Think about the things that you enjoy doing, and do that.

Second, how many of these things can you change. If you can’t, then have a positive attitude and do the best that you can with what you have. If it is something you can change, then work on doing that. Set goals and make it happen. Start slow and work until you feel good about it.

Third, I want to encourage you to have a motivating quote that you reflect on. One that speaks to you and keeps you going when things are hard. Something positive that you can repeat to yourself when you don’t feel great or when things start to get too difficult. An inspiration that will help you to refocus and keep you going when you need a push.

Keep going. You can do this. Yes!. Things are so hard right now but you are an amazing lady and God has given you the strength to keep going.

Focus on that goal and make it happen one step at a time. You can do it. I believe in you.
