3 steps to stop feeling defeated

As moms there is always a time when we all feel defeated. For many reasons. Jobs, relationships, new ventures, misbehaving children, a dirty house, the list can keep going on and on.So what do you do? You have 2 choices.

How is it going? How are you feeling about your day today?

I am sitting here trying to get some ideas on what you guys might enjoy reading and I started thinking to myself let’s talk about feeling defeated.Because it’s just one of those nights over here!

There are many times when moms all feel defeated. For many reasons. Jobs, relationships, new ventures, misbehaving children, a dirty house, the list can keep going on and on.

So what do you do? I’m sitting here feeling defeated right now, but I think I have 2 choices.

1- Get depressed, close this computer, go to  bed and not think about it.

Or

2- Feel depressed, keep researching for 15 minutes, go get some good sleep and start over in the morning.

Which would you choose? Most of the time the first is the easy way. You are just done. You go to sleep and try over tomorrow. But you let that feeling of defeat take over so you avoid the problem and don’t conquer what has made you feel defeated, and yes there are times when this is the best way to go. However, there are times when finishing what made you feel crappy is the best therapy.

You need to keep going and you need to accomplish that thing, that thing that is making you crazy. That thing that is making you feel that you aren’t good enough or that you will never accomplish what you want.

When there is something that you want you need to go after it.

Easier said than done! YES…

Especially with a pile of laundry and a sink full of dishes, right?

Well, momma. You know what you are more than capable of doing it. You are more than capable of conquering whatever is defeating you tonight. You are amazing and you can do it. You can make your dream come true! Whatever it is. Right now for me it’s getting this blog post up and making my blog a success. I know someone who wants to conquer her laundry. I know someone who needs to find a new job. I know someone who wants to sleep for more than a couple of hours at night. And all of these moms will do it. Because they can, because that is what we moms do!

In another post I wrote about different thing we can do to provide yourself with self-care (Read it here.)   We need to be sure that we are taking care of ourselves so that when days like this come up, we feel that we have the energy to conquer whatever is defeating us.

This was a very unplanned post, but I hope that you find that final boost of energy to motivate yourself to do what you need to. Get yourself motivated. Go to the gym, go to bed early, fold the clothes in the basket, finish your garden. Whatever it is that you want to do tomorrow do it. But for now go get some sleep. It will all be there tomorrow, the important thing is that you decide that tomorrow you want to conquer it.

Here are three steps you can take to make yourself feel better now:

1- Put down whatever is frustrating you and walk away

2- Get a scrap piece of paper and write a plan ( or subscribe and download my free goal sheet)

3- Take one step at a time until you finish your plan

Bonus step- treat yourself to something, candy, a walk, that new makeup you wanted.

You deserve it! You work hard. Please, don’t let the little things get you down when you are capable of accomplishing everything that is in front of you.
